Who We Step Up For: Colleen Ritzer
Colleen Ritzer, a lifelong resident of Andover knew from a young age she wanted to be a teacher. As a 2007 graduate of Andover High School and a 2011 graduate of Assumption College, she pursued her dream to become a high school math teacher.
Colleen spent countless hours finding unique and creative ways to inspire and teach her students, who she loved. She quickly became a popular and beloved math teacher at Danvers High School who continues to inspire students and teachers alike to this day.
Colleen didn’t just teach her students, she taught the world to be kind and find the good.

Why Step Up for Colleen?
Colleen stepped up for every single person she has touched during her life, and now. You may not be on earth with us, but you sure are with all of us in spirit.
To honor my friend and fellow teacher who helped to engage her students in the classroom and her friends and family with her warm heart and positive attitude.
Colleen was a person that I looked up to as a child. Knowing that she was symbolically with me through this journey to becoming a teacher has been more meaningful than I can express.
It is such a positive and inspirational event - that out of such a tragedy, people are focused on remembering the good, celebrating Colleen’s life and working towards improving the future!
I am a student who loves learning. I’m inspired by Colleen and want to become a teacher to carry out Colleen’s work.
